WHISPERPOWER M-SQ GENERATOR
AS POWER SOURCE FOR HYDRAULICS: POWER TAKE OFF
Hydraulics are frequently used on boats, and with good reason: a pump system
with pressurised oil supplies a constant and immediately available mechanical
force for the bowthruster, stabilisers, auxiliary propeller or sail controls.
A WhisperPower generator (8-25 kVA models) can function as an exellent hydraulic
power source in this context. Using Power Take Off, you can easily adapt your
diesel engine for an additional task for example to power a hydraulic pump.
TWO TYPES: SAE A AND SAE B
Power Take Off is a stainless steel flange connected to the Whisper engine drive
shaft, to whitch the central hydraulic pump is fitted.
Two types are aveilable:
- for hydraulic pumps with 9-tooth SAE A connection
- for hydraulic pumps with 13-tooth SAE B connection
Hydraulic pumps are usually available from the supplier of the relevant hydraulic
system. Consult your WhisperPower agent for advice on this issue.
FOR M-SQ SERIES FROM 8 KW
Power Take Off requires more power, especially if your generator needs to power
the hydraulic system as well as the rest of your equipment.
It is therefore only available for the M-SQ 8 / 10 / 12 / 16 / 20 and 25 - 50 Hz
(M-SQ 7 / 9.5 / 11 / 15 / 20 and 30 - 60 Hz) models.
ELECTRICITY, HYDRAULIC PRESSURE OR BOTH
Using Power Take Off, the M-SQ can be set to three different functions:
- generating electric current
- powering the hydraulic system
- a combination of both
Simultaneous use of these functions depends on teh energy required by each:
naturally every generator model has a maximum capacity.
